Dali-Shangrila Transportation

Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture is situated in the west-central region of Yunnan Province, neighboring Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture in the east, Puer City in the south, Baoshan City and Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in the west and Lijiang in the north. It is about 300 km away from Shangrila and can only be reached by coach. Lijiang is located in the middle of this two cities, so most tourists will choose to visit Lijiang after Shangrila tour, and then move on to Dali for sightseeing.

How to Get to Dali from Shangrila?

By Air

Both Shangrila and Dali have airports. However there are no direct flights flying between Dali and Shangrila. Tourists can only take the the connecting flight via Kunming or Chongqing, which is a waste of time and money. So it is not recommended. 

By Train

The Lijiang-Shangrila Railway is under construction. After the completion, it’s possible for tourists travel to Shangrila by train. 

By Coach

Coach is the main transport means of traveling to Dali from Shangrila. Usually it’ll take about 5-6 hours. At Shangrila Bus Station, there are 2 buses running to Dali departing at 15:00 and 18:30 at the cost of CNY 111-119. Located near major tourist attractions, Shangri La Bus Station is a small while very busy station. Buses from Lijiang, Dali, Kunming and etc are all terminates here. Meanwhile, people would have to gather here to catch buses to leave Shangri La.
