Geographical Location and Administrative Divisions: Shangjiang Township is located in the southern part of Lushui City, within the Hengduan Mountains’ longitudinal valley area. It is situated on the east bank of the Nujiang River, at the southern edge of the Gaoligong Mountains. The township is bordered by Lanping County to the north, Yunlong County’s Minjian Township and Baoshan City’s Longyang District’s Wama Township and Wenshang Township to the east, Longyang District’s Mangkuan Township to the south, and the state capital, Lukou, to the west. It is 24 kilometers away from the state capital, Lukou, and covers an area of 347.8 square kilometers. The township administers six villages: Binggong Village, Bingfeng Village, Fuba Village, Manying Village, Tongxin Community, and Yazhihua Community.
Cultural and Historical Background: Shangjiang Township is a multi-ethnic settlement, primarily inhabited by the Lisu, Dai, Han, Nu, Miao, and Bai ethnic groups. The area is rich in cultural heritage, with traditional customs and festivals celebrated by these ethnic groups.
Economic Development: The economy of Shangjiang Township is primarily based on agriculture, with crops such as rice, corn, and wheat. The town is also known for its rich forest resources and diverse biological species. The area is known for its fertile land and is considered the “hometown of fish and rice” in the region.
