History and Culture
Yinyuan Town (因远镇) has a long history. During the Dali Kingdom in the Song Dynasty, it was known as the Yinyuan Division (因远部), named after the local chieftain. It has long been a settlement area for ethnic minorities, particularly the Hani people, and boasts a rich cultural heritage. In July 2014, Yinyuan Town was designated a National Key Town by seven ministries including the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China.
