Jiuzihai Village of Subdistrict Office in Gucheng District, Lijiang

Jiuzi Hai Village is located in Shuhe Sub-district (束河街道办事处), Gucheng District (古城区), Lijiang City (丽江市), Yunnan Province, about 26 kilometers away from Lijiang Ancient City (丽江古城). The village is named “Jiuzi Hai” (九子海) due to the presence of several naturally formed large and small ponds within the village. It is a typical secluded village, surrounded by mountains and offering rich natural landscapes and a tranquil rural environment.

Jiuzi Hai Village is situated on the east side of Yulong Snow Mountain (玉龙雪山), neighboring Yulong Snow Mountain to the north and Lijiang Ancient City to the south. To get there from Lijiang Ancient City, you can choose one of the following routes:

Passing through the Yulong Snow Mountain scenic area, which has relatively good road conditions.

Traveling through the mountain road 10 kilometers away from Lijiang towards Lugu Lake (泸沽湖) (in front of the cement factory). The road conditions are poor, and it is recommended to use a 4WD vehicle.

Surrounding Jiuzi Hai Village is a highland meadow covering more than 4000 acres, dotted with over 30 mysterious sinkholes. From May to November each year, the meadow is covered with blooming flowers, forming a sea of flowers with beautiful lake reflections, creating a breathtaking view.

Jiuzi Hai Village attracts every visitor with its tranquility and simplicity. The houses in the village are scattered, with blue tiles and white walls, exuding a strong Naxi ethnic style.

Jiuzi Hai Village is mainly agricultural, growing crops such as potatoes and buckwheat. Visitors can experience rural life in the countryside.

There are some unique homestays in Jiuzi Hai Village and the surrounding areas, offering comfortable accommodation that combines modern comfort with traditional Naxi architectural style.

Visitors can also choose to stay at local farmhouses to experience rural life.

Named after the nine naturally formed ponds of various sizes within the dam area, Jiuzi Hai has been listed in the provincial important wetland catalog. It is a highland meadow wetland, surrounded by high mountains, dense forests, and rich vegetation.

Jiuzi Hai Village is adjacent to Yulong Snow Mountain to the north, where visitors can enjoy the magnificent views of the snow mountain.

Buckwheat is grown in Jiuzi Hai Village and is a local specialty.

Visitors can enjoy traditional Naxi dishes such as chickpea jelly and casserole chicken in the area.
