Overview

Maizihe River (麦子河, Màizǐ Hé) originates from Luhua (露华, Lùhuá) in Luliang County (陆良县, Lùliáng Xiàn), Qujing (曲靖市, Qūjìng Shì). The river flows through various reservoirs, including Aiwei (爱位, Àiwèi) to Jiagu (戛古, Jiágǔ), and merges with Nuo Yan (挪岩, Nuó Yán), Jingou (菁沟, Jīnggōu), and Sashah (撒沙河, Sāshā Hé) before entering Yan Fang River (阎芳河, Yánfāng Hé) and Nanpan River (南盘江, Nánpán Jiāng).

The total length of the river is approximately 9 kilometers. In 1955, the Maizihe Reservoir (麦子河水库, Màizǐ Hé Shuǐkù) was constructed, featuring an earthen dam with a storage capacity of 13 million cubic meters. The reservoir, named after the river, is renowned for its rich vegetation and serene environment. It is adjacent to a national highway and is conveniently close to the county seat, making it a popular destination for visitors.
