Tachang Township (塔城乡) is located in the northwestern part of Yulong Naxi Autonomous County (玉龙纳西族自治县) and is one of the more remote townships in Yulong County. It is bordered by Fengke Township (奉科乡) to the east, Da Ju Township (大具乡) to the south, Ninglang Yi Autonomous County (宁蒗彝族自治县) to the west, and Yibin County (盐边县), Sichuan Province to the north. The township covers an area of about 400 square kilometers, and the township government is situated approximately 120 kilometers from the county seat of Yulong. Located in a high-altitude cold mountainous area with an average elevation of about 2800 meters, Tachang Township is a typical mountainous agricultural township.

  • Honors and Recognition: On July 3, 2024, Tachang Township held a “Delivering Good News to Families” event to honor three local active-duty soldiers—Xiao Shaojie, He Liangchun, and He Longquan—who were awarded the Third-Class Merit for their outstanding performance during their military service in 2023. This is the first time in the history of Tachang Township that three soldiers have received this honor simultaneously.
