Tuguan Village of Longpan Town in Yulong County, Lijiang

Tuguan Village is located in Xinlian Village Committee (新联村委会), Longpan Township (龙蟠乡), Yulong Naxi Autonomous County (玉龙纳西族自治县), Lijiang City (丽江市), Yunnan Province. It is a semi-mountainous area situated in the central part of Xinlian Village Committee and serves as the location of the village committee. It is 3 kilometers away from the township government. The village covers a total land area of 20.46 square kilometers, with an elevation of 1,900 meters. It has an average annual temperature of 14℃ and an annual precipitation of 958.9 millimeters, making it suitable for growing crops such as corn, wheat, rice, and flue-cured tobacco.

Longpan Township has focused on developing the lemon industry as an emerging industry. Tuguan Village, as an important part of this industry, has seen many households participating in lemon cultivation, with a planting area reaching 108 acres.

Watermelon Industry

In 2024, Longpan Township seized the market opportunity by using scientific and technological innovation and variety improvement to bring watermelons to market earlier than usual. This strategic move enhanced economic efficiency. The township’s watermelon planting area has exceeded 1,000 acres, making it a key pillar of the local winter agriculture.

Tuguan Village is about 45 kilometers away from the county town of Yongsheng. It is conveniently accessible by transportation. Starting from the county town of Yongsheng, you can travel along the main road to Longpan Township and then to Tuguan Village.

San Gu Shui Scenic Area (三股水景区)

Located near Tuguan Village, this scenic area is at the confluence of the ancient Xionggu-Jianchuan river valley in the Three Parallel Rivers area and the modern Jinsha River valley from the first bend of the Yangtze River to Tiger Leaping Gorge. With its beautiful mountains and clear waters, it provides an excellent environment for leisure and relaxation.

Tea Horse Road (茶马古道)

Tuguan Village is a famous cultural landscape in Yulong Naxi Autonomous County. It connects the ancient Tea Horse trading route and the rich folk customs of the Naxi ethnic village.

Population and Society

Tuguan Village currently has 195 households with a total rural population of 832 people, of whom 777 are agricultural population and 528 are labor force. The village is predominantly inhabited by the Naxi ethnic group, with 602 Naxi people, 160 Han people, and 70 people from other ethnic groups.

Infrastructure

By the end of 2006, Tuguan Village had access to water, electricity, roads, television, and telephones, but there were no streetlights. All 195 households had access to tap water and electricity. 137 households owned televisions, and 176 households had fixed-line or mobile phones installed.

The future development plan for Tuguan Village is to combine the requirements of the construction of a new socialist countryside, further enhance the overall quality of the villagers’ ideological and cultural standards, vigorously promote practical agricultural science and technology, actively develop rural livestock industries, and strive to increase the scientific and technological content of livestock breeding to improve breeding efficiency.
