Hi,
the tours are sounding very nice 🙂
May it be possible to arrange a tour like that above, but with Dali as startingpoint and Lijiang as fialpoint with a loop to Schangri-La for 6 people and, sorry, soon, from the 4th of August to the 13th?
We alrady have visa.
It would be so kind of you if you will answer us.
And if you can´t arrange in that short time you maybe have a kontact to a bike-rental-station in Dali for us?
And what do you mean, is it possible to go by Roadbike or do we have to choose MTBs?
With best regards
Katja
Hi Katja,
Warm greeting from Kunming.
Thank you for your inquiry and sorry for our late reply.
We are very sorry to tell you that we can’t arrange this tour in this short time because it’s peak season.
There are many bike rental shops in Dali Ancient Town, you can pike the one you like and start you trip at Dali Ancient Town. Please note that, if you rent bikes in Dali, you need to return them to Dali.
You can go by the road bike because most of roads are tar road. We arranged several cycling tours and we usually use MTBs because part of Dali – Shaxi – Shangri-la – Lijiang routes are over 70 kilometer, and the whole route is over 900 kiloneters, so you need a more durable bike. But if you don’t have any supporting vehicles, road bike maybe better because it’s lighter than MTBs. Anyway, road bike and MTBs are optional, you can pike the one suitable for you.
You need to notice about our itinerary, the route of Shaxi to Shangri-la is over 245 kilometers, and most of the roads are up slope, it may take you 2-3 days cycling. And Shangri-la – Baishuitai, it’s 132 kilometers, but most of the roads are down slope.
The altitude of Dali is 2090 meters, and Shangri-la is 3459 meters, Lijiang is 2416 meters, so you need to have a good rest when you are cycling to Shangri-la in case you have altitude sickness.
Hope you have a nice trip!
Thanks
